Frequently Asked Questions

wedding photographs

Engaging a photographer to capture images of a special occassion. such as a wedding, is not an everyday event and so it is important that you ask, and get answers to, the questions most critical in helping you to chose the photographer that can meet your needs. Here are the answers to the questions you should ask of any photographer who you may be considering to use.

How much is it going to cost?
Most photographers would answer "That depends on what you want" but with Crashers packages, you know exactly what you are going to get and how much you will be paying. Our packages normally range from £525, for party or event photography, to £2,150 for a complete wedding package. If you want something a little different then contact us and we will come and see you to discuss your requirements then give you a written quotation which specifies exactly what you get and how much it costs.

What do I get for my money?
All Crashers packages include at least one fifty page linen bound hardback book printed on extra thick and heavy, archival quality, acid-free paper using four colour offset printing. A book will have a minimum of an image a page but typically there are around 250 images or more printed as a mix of single and multiple image pages. In addition to the book we put a selection of images into an online album which is available in the customer only area of our website. Finally, we give you all the images taken whether we used them in the book or the online album or not.

The Full Monty is our ultimate wedding package. You have two photographers with you from before the wedding until the last dance and everyone has gone home. You get a total of three books (one 12"x16" and two 12"x9" ) with each book containing around 250 images. In addition you get an online album, the online album as an executable program and all the images taken on an 8GB USB Flash Drive.

For those who only want coverage for part of the day then The Wedding is probably the package for you. You have two photographers meet you at the Church or Wedding venue taking photographs as you and your guests arrive and during the ceremony. If required we will also return (at no additional cost!) for the toasts and cake cutting before leaving you to party the night away. You get one fifty page 12"x16" book with at least 50 images. In addition you get an online album, the online album as an executable program and all the images taken on an 8GB USB Flash Drive.

For those who aren't getting married or only want coverage of the evening celebrations then The Party is the package for you. We arrive at the party venue in enough time to get pictures of you and your guests as they arrive and then we mingle capturing all the party action. You get one fifty page 12"x9" book with at least 50 images. In addition we give you a DVD with all the images taken during the night.

"How many prints are included in the cost?"
Our cost includes images presented in a printed book rather than as individual photographs in an album. The number of images included in the book will vary depending on the event and the number of images taken but the minimum is one image per page.

How much will prints cost?
This is something that everyone needs to ask as often your final outlay is considerably higher than expected due to the cost of the prints. Often photographers will charge anywhere from £5 to £10 a print which can easily add up to an additional £500 to £1,000 over the basic cost of the package.

Because we give you all the images, you can select the ones you want and get them printed by your favourite photo processer. If you have a large number of prints and want us to do this for you then you give us the image numbers and we will do it all for you. We charge 35p for formats upto 8"x6" and 75p for 10½"x8" and 12"x8".

We're having a small wedding, with thirty people, and want to spend less than £1,000 on pictures. What can we do?
The Full Monty and The Wedding packages tend to be more suitable for larger affairs but don't worry, we will always work with you to find something to meet your budget. Smaller weddings will find The Party package at £525 can be modified to meet all requirements.

What extra charges are there?
Within a 25 mile radius of our base in Potton Bedfordshire, none. If we have to travel any distance then we may ask for expenses but this is all agreed with you in advance so there are no nasty surprises.

Do you charge a booking fee?
Booking fees are different from deposits in that they are usually non-refundable. We do not charge a booking fee the price we quote is the price you pay.

Do you want a deposit? Is it refundable?
When you place your booking, and if you want us to guarantee your date, then we request a 25% deposit if you are booking more than six months in advance otherwise we request 10% of the package cost. If you need to cancel the booking then as long as you let us know at least 8 weeks before the date we will return your deposit in full otherwise we reserve the right to retain all or part of the deposit.

Do you charge more for a Saturday or Sunday Wedding?
No.

How much time will you spend at my wedding?
That is really up to you and the package you chose. With The Full Monty we are with you for around 10 to 12 hours from just before you leave for the church to the last dance. We can meet you where you are getting dressed, and keep taking pictures until you leave the reception.

I don't want any posed pictures at my wedding - okay?
Our aim is to capture everything about your special day and we concentrate on reportage photography. But most families want some posed images in their collection. Our posed pictures are created by finding a suitable location (usually in advance of the day) and then encouraging you to be yourselves while one of us captures a variety of angles and compositions whilst the other records everything going on around you. We encourage and welcome family and friends to ask us to take posed photographs that they specifically want. In this way we make sure that mums and dads and aunts and uncles get that special photo for their sideboard too.

Why do you use two photographers?
A lot happens during the day and to ensure everything going on around you is captured and nothing missed. Unguarded moments are often overlooked when only a single photographer is present. Our two photographer approach allows us to 'people watch' and capture those events going on around you while at the same time focussing on you and what is happening around you.

Who owns the copyright on the photographs?
Under law, it is the photographer who will own copyright on any photos taken unless there is an agreement that assigns the copyright to another party. Crashers do not hold the copyright on any photographs we take at weddings or parties and as such once we have given you the images you can distribute, copy and reprint them as you see fit. It is very important that you check with any photographer what the copyright situation with them is, as any reproduction without permission would be an infringement of copyright.
